Welcome to our site!Once upon a time, we had a dream...
As Disney fans, we wanted to celebrate all the magic and wonder Disney has brought into our lives. When the opportunity came up to design our "forever" tiny house, we not only decided on practical functionality, but whimsical fantasy and Disney flair! This site will celebrate the partners that helped us bring our dream to life, share more about us and our design process, and take you on a magical tour of the "Happiest Tiny House on Earth". |

Partners & Products we chose for our home
Please note we are not being compensated in any way for these links - we've had friends ask us about who built our home, where did we get those awesome rugs, etc. These are the choices we made and the links are strictly here for informational purposes. Enjoy!
Forever Tiny HomesThe amazing team at Forever Tiny Homes became involved with us in mid-2019. We'll have more details in an upcoming blog post. But suffice it to say, if it wasn't for their willingness to go outside-the-box, excitement for our design, contributing their own elements and commitment to creating a one-of-a-kind "Forever home" for us, well we wouldn't have the amazing house we're living in today.
As the sign says in our home says - one of the few non-Disney decorations - "we decided on forever". For us, that has dual meaning, but completely represents our thanks to and friendship with Forever Tiny Homes. They made our dreams come true!
RuggableOur tiny mouse house has exquisite luxury vinyl floors, a dark grey wood grain that gives a base to our black & white color palate. However, we didn't want to miss out on another way of adding theming to the house.
Ruggable was also discovered prior to the Tiny House design. Discovered, if I recall correctly, on a Disney Facebook page, I was intrigued by their Disney collection as well as the unique pad-&-cover design. We are proud to feature - currently - three different Disney Ruggables, including my beloved Burgundy Persian in my Adventurer's Loft, as I still find myself staring at the design, picking out hidden Mickeys I hadn't seen before... Love it! Steve's Mobile SunscreensWe love our current parking location, but it has a southern exposure that COOKS the front of our tiny house and turns our Mickey icons into hot plates that could fry eggs. We knew we had to address this and we did: in two steps.
The first came highly recommended from a friend I trust completely. He said he had Solar Sunscreens placed on his windows over 15 years ago by Steve's Mobile Sunscreens. I gave them a call and they came out for a quote. The price was very reasonable and the install came faster than we expected. The results look great, with the dark copper frames perfectly merging with our black & white primary colors. And the results are outstanding! We went with 90% cover on the 6 celestial windows, and 80% on the two end loft windows. The heat difference inside was instantly noticeable. A great addition to the house, and one half of the "heat abatement initiative"! The Little Guys HVAC Chris and the team at The Little Guys HVAC are our go-to Air Conditioning and Heating service. They have helped us with maintenance on our mini-split system and we trust them with a very critical component of our home in these extraordinarily hot times.

DisneyIt all started with a mouse....
And that was true for our Tiny Home journey. We had watched the shows, read the articles and knew we wanted to go the extra mile with our design. This was going to be our "Forever Home" (even before Forever Tiny Homes was involved!) And we wanted a theme - not just a cookie-cutter tiny house we would put curios in. The design had to reflect us - what made us who we are. What made us happy. The answer was simple and immediate: Disney From the movies to the parks to the philosophy Walt Disney developed and generations of Imagineers and Cast Members bring to life every single day. Disney makes us happy. And Disney makes our house a home. 4Seating.comWe fell in love with 4Seating.com's Seatcraft line of home theater seating before we considered a Tiny Home. I had a similar single-seat recliner in my den in our previous house, and I loved it. So when I started my research then for a replacement for our seating in our big living room, 4Seating kept coming up.
Fast forward to late-2019 as the design for our Tiny Home was developing. Through a process we'll delve more into in a future blog post, we decided to make a main seating full-size, power recline theater seats from 4Seating. Was it possible? Yes! And no compromises on the seats, design or space in the house. They are a perfect fit! We decided on the Republic Loveseat configuration (follow the link above.) Big thanks to Clara at 4Seating for her patience with our questions and her enthusiasm of what appears to be their first Tiny House installation! Casper MattressesWe knew we wanted to really upgrade our mattress situation. For far too long, we slept on a mediocre mattress on a regular box spring on a metal frame. And our backs have been paying for it. We also knew that the design called for a platform that would have storage underneath. So the solution would have to be a single unit - one mattress to rule them all.
And that's when I found about about the Casper Hybrid mattress. I'm not a small guy and tend to sleep on my side. This mattress combined a memory foam top with stiffer foam core and then actual springs at the bottom! Hybrid indeed. The link above tells you more at their site, but from nightly use I can tell you it wasn't a mistake - we love this mattress! (And it stays COOL! Love it.) Vinewood CoveringsThe second half of our "heat abatement initiative", even with the awesome Sunscreens from Steve's Mobile Sunscreens (see left column), we were still cooking the front of the house and bringing those Mickey icons to dangerous levels of heat. You could easily burn yourself if you touched them on a hot day.
We always knew we wanted to add an awning to the house and, since it was built like a house, why not a residential-quality one? We had seen (and used) RV awnings and were not impressed, especially with their side struts and braces, flimsy construction, etc. They aren't made to be used full time like a true home awning is. We also knew we wanted a Sunsetter awning, due to their quality build and style. Calling around, several dealers refused to even look at a tiny house install. Again, the misinformation surrounding what tiny houses came up. However, we were lucky enough to find the team at Vinewood Coverings, and they were willing to come out, take a look and see if it was possible. We were, of course, their first tiny house awning install. When they saw the house AND saw the construction photos, they said, "Yeah! We can do that!" and our Sunsetter awning - ordered to our color and material specifications - was ordered. We had expected a 2 month or longer wait, but in less than a month the awning, custom built in Boston, had arrived and was installed quickly and professionally. Now whether they send out 4 guys, including the owner, to every build I can't say, heh. But they did and the results are phenomnal! We highly recommend the team at Vinewood Coverings. They are friendly, professional and the quality of the build speaks for itself. We love it! |
And to all of our family and friends - Thank you!
